Generally, the rim is sealed using a non-porous tape while the tire’s casing requires the use of sealant to provide air retention. Our floating discs have been redesigned with a wider braking surface to enable them to be used as a replacement on many other braking systems in addition to our own FEATURES - Constructed in two parts, aluminium centre and stainless steel braking surface. - High performance disc, allowing the stainless steel outer to expand separately from the centre and handle high temperatures without warping. - Hope floating rotors have a true floating design which allows 1 degree of freedom. This means the outer is always free to expand when subjected to heat. - Lightweight design. - Aluminium centre acts as heat sink keeping disc temperatures lower. - CNC machined centre is stiff and lightweight so has the advantages of a thicker fixed disc without the weight penalty.

The Tech 4 uses all new internal sealing for reduced friction and the pivot spins on roller bearings, allowing the spring rate to be reduced. The lower spring rate in turn gives a lighter lever action, reducing rider fatigue and keeping our legendary feel and modulation. The updated E4 caliper utilises hybrid style Stainless steel pistons with a phenolic insert allowing for smoother movement and less maintenance, while still able to manage high temperatures without heat transfer during extreme use. The original Forekaster was designed as a wet weather option for XC, while the new version is aimed squarely at modern short travel (100mm-130mm) trail bikes - aka the “downcountry” segment. Intended to be a “Goldilocks” tire, the new Forekaster rolls fast but also provides solid cornering and braking traction in a broad range of trail conditions.
